In 1969 Dave Thomas opens the first Wendy’s® restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, at 257 E. Broad Street. When he was eight years old, Dave Thomas dreamed he’d run the best restaurant in the world. He didn’t just achieve his dream, he shared it with everyone. Dave loved two things above all else, food and people. That’s why he started Wendy’s. He believed in a place where you get great food, made fresh, served by kind people. At all his restaurants Wendy’s does its best to carry on that simple idea, every day. It’s his legacy. Their name is Wendy’s, but they will always be Dave’s place. In addition, the face of Wendy’s is of his daughter Melinda whose nickname is Wendy and looks just as the logo portrait.  Wendy’s hits the 500th restaurant milestone, with a new restaurant in Toronto, Canada by 1976. Wendy’s continues to grow with multiple locations world wide.
