Walmart versus Amazon: Grocery Edition

For some time now gigantic retail chain Walmart and e-commerce giant Amazon has been battling it out to see who can offer the quickest delivery options and dominate the online retail market. Walmart has fired a new salvo. Walmart has created a Prime like grocery membership subscription service service of its own. The new service called Delivery Unlimited.
At this time, the Delivery Unlimited service is only available in the Houston, Miami, Salt Lake City, and Tampa markets. If it’s successful, it will probably be added nation wide over the coming months. Currently Walmart has been offering 2 weeks of the service free on a trial basis. After the trial, customers are charged based on the plan that they choose when signing up ($9.95/monthly OR $98/annually – that’s $8.17 per month). But, the Delivery Unlimited plan may be canceled before the trial period ends without charges.
It will be interesting to see if Delivery Unlimited can make a dent in Amazon Prime. Prime membership is slightly more expensive, but comes with some perks such as access to Prime Video, free rapid shipping on non grocery items and free ebooks.
