Local v International POS Provider

There are many service and goods that should be provided locally including your doctor and dry cleaning, but the advantages of having an international POS (point of sale) partner far outweigh those of a perceived local provider. The main reason for choosing local is the perception of better service which varies depending on the exact service or product needed. As an example, a local bakery is perceived to offer fresher bread and is only true if they are the ones baking the bread. However, most of the places one shops from (i.e. grocery stores) are not necessarily local. They are physically local, but have national and international reach that brings the customer better products at a better value. A local Ralphs or Safeway may be physically in your neighborhood, but did you know that Kroger (parent of Ralphs) and Safeway are the two largest supermarket chains in North America? These two “local” markets mostly partner with national and internationals (including POS systems) to obtain the service and goods they need. Why? Because it is the strength of the national/international organizations (including POS) that can ensure a consistent and high level of service for their customers. They need to be able to count on the provider always being there.

Obtaining a POS (point of sale ) system ranging from your restaurant to your produce market is no different. A local POS company simply cannot afford to service a customer on site at a moment’s notice. It is simply not practical or profitable for them. The perception is that if something were to go wrong, then someone local would be on site within minutes. Just do the math and the hourly cost of the technician. This is just not practical for a local provider unless a customer is willing to pay the high cost associated with it. On the opposite side of the spectrum, a international POS provider such as Sintel Systems is capable of satisfying a customer’s needs and here is how:

Your POS system crashed:

1. Local provider: Call them. Schedule a time (probably next few days). They come it, try to fix it, and ….

2. Sintel Systems. Call them. Problem diagnosed. If necessary, new system shipped next day. Problem solved.

It is not necessarily that the local provider does not want to provide quick and better service, it is simply outside the realm of their abilities. They need to make a profit and showing up to the store every time or replacing systems is not the way.

The best gauge of a company’s philosophy is in its practice. So, if Sintel Systems believes in the power of international POS provider, how do we service customers that are local to one of our offices? The same way we service all of our customers.
