Is Frozen Yogurt going global?

One would think with the astonishing number of frozen yogurt shops and franchises around, that there is no room left for any other to open.  Well, they are incorrect!  The frozen yogurt world is nowhere close to being saturated.  Not only is the Fro-yo world not tapped out, its still growing in all the 50 states, and growing viral globally.
Menchie’s: Started by a husband & wife team, Danna & Adam Caldwell opened the door of Restaurant POS Point of Sale Now.jpgtheir first store in Valley Village, a suburban community of Los Angeles, California, on May 15, 2007.   After getting a huge fan base in their community, they decided to team up with  Elie Balas, an experienced business leader and started franchising just a year later in 2008.  Today there are 310 Menchie’s stores, with a global footprint serving yogurt lovers in U.S.A., Canada, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, England, France, South Africa, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, India, China, Japan, and Australia. Menchie’s expects to open stores in Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia by the end of 2013.

Yogurtland:  Phillip Chang, founder and CEO of Yogurtland got his start with Boba Loca, a bubble tea concept. He added self-serve frozen yogurt as an afterthought opening its first location in 2006 in Fullerton, California.  By the end of that year he had opened 3, and by December 2012 there were 200 locations throughout 16 states in the United States (including Alaska) as well as in Mexico, Australia, Guam, Venezuela, and Japan. They are looking to open 50 additional locations scheduled to open worldwide over the next six months and aiming to open 1000 stores by the end of 2017.  Yogurtland is headquartered in Irvine, California.

Red Mango Frozen Yogurt:  Founder Dan Kim opened the first Red Mango in 2007 in Los Angeles, California. Today, there are over 200 delicious locations nationwide.   Red Mango was named the number one smoothie and frozen yogurt chain in America in Zagat’s 2011 National Chain Restaurants Survey.   They have also been voted best frozen yogurt in Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, Chicago, Utah and New York by highly-regarded independent publications. Headquartered in Dallas, Red Mango serves uniquely delicious frozen yogurt that is all-natural, nonfat and low-fat, gluten-free.  They have established themselves under a globally growing brand called Cacao Green and are located or opening soon in (under Red Mango or Cacao Green brand) in Turkey, Kuwait, Qatar, China, Korea, United Arab Emirates, India, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, South Africa and Australia.
