Your local “neighborhood market” might be on its way to closing. Fresh & Easy announced Friday they will be selling off fifty stores in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Thirty of which all lie in the Southern California region.
This might be a big shock to many consumers. Roughly between 2013 and 2014, two Fresh & Easy markets sprang up in my neighborhood and I was fascinated by the easy checkout, various organic options, and already prepared delicious meals.
A Fresh & Easy spoke person released a statement saying, the liquidation of their less convenient stores will help them move to a newer modern business model. Focusing on the remaining stores, the franchise will work with ADMI, the masterminds behind Apple’s store design, to create the future of convenience grocery stores.
