DoorDash, the third party food delivery company announced today that it has raised another $600 million during a series G round. This brings the total amount of funding raised by by the company to $2 billion.
With the new money, DoorDash is now valued by investors at $12.6 billion. Prior to this funding round,, the company raised $250 million in September of 2018 and $400 million in a series F funding round in February 2019.
On its corporate blog, DoorDash announced that business has grown 60 percent since the Series F round in Feb. Year over year, the company grew 280 percent, generating $7.5 billion in gross merchandise value sales (not all of that went to DoorDash as it includes the money paid to restaurants).
In the last year, DoorDash has aggressively pushed across the US. The company has expanded to more than 4,000 cities in America and Canada. Recently DoorDash announced a fully integrated 360 national brand campaign encompassing television, radio, digital and social components that will begin at the end of May. The aim of the latest campaign is to show consumers how DoorDash will meet them wherever they are this summer. Furthermore DoorDash has created a number of partnerships including the Wyndham Hotels chain.
It seems like for the moment, DoorDash has a slight edge over competitors Uber Eats, Postmates and GrubHub.
