Los Angeles – August 30, 2012. Surveillance footage from security cameras allegedly capture two Los Angeles Police Department officers arresting Michelle Jordan, who was pulled over for using her cellphone while driving her vehicle. The security cameras from the Del Taco parking lot in Tujunga show two officers slamming the woman twice on the ground.

Jordan, 34, was allegedly using her cellphone when LAPD proceeded with a routine stop. She pulled into a parking lot of a local restaurant where she got out of the car and confronted the officers. She was booked for resisting arrest and later released.
LAPD Chief Charlie Beck stated that “Proper steps were not taken, including appropriate notifications and the removal of the involved officers from the field. “Because of these issues, I have removed him from his command and initiated downgrade procedures. Every Los Angeles police officer, regardless of rank, will be held accountable for their actions.”
According to the LAPD, both officers have been assigned to desk duties until further investigation. The officers are described as a 22-year veteran and a 10-month probationary officer.
Jordan’s attorney Sy Nazif stated that her client did “nothing that warranted a physical assault from the LAPD.” Pointing to the security cameras, Jordan’s other attorney Arthur Corona states “We have a defenseless woman in a sundress, two fully armed police officers with training in various restraining devices that they could have used, and instead they used brutal force to take a woman down to the ground for no reason.”
