Earlier this year the fast food chain announced it would be opening a new urban prototype in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood that serves alcohol. Being the first store for the chain to serve drinks, Taco Bell has taken it upon themselves to hire a bouncer amid concerns.
Nearby residents reported unease to underage drinking and open containers in the neighborhood.
To pacify concerns, Taco Bell proposed hiring a bouncer to work the night shift. The guard will work Thursday through Saturday from 9 p.m. until midnight.
Drinks will be sold in noticeably different containers to discern regular beverages from those with a kick. The menu will include beer, wine, and mixed freezes with your choice of rum, vodka, or tequila.
Taco Bell also said it would not sell alcoholic beverages after nine on weekdays and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
The Mexican bar and grill restaurant concept is expected to open late August.
Unlike your typical Taco Bell menu, the Wicker Park locations will serve exclusive appetizers and menu items.
A similar concept is scheduled to open September in San Francisco for Taco Bell enthusiasts over 21.
More recent moves to expand their reach include rolling out a delivery plan in 90 cities across California and Texas.
