Recently Pei Wei Kitchen announced a partnership with Postmates to offer Pei Wei fans free delivery. Customers will be able to get free delivery by subscribing to Postmates membership service, Postmates Unlimited, for an annual fee of $7.99 per month. Postmates offers on-demand delivery service from over 500,000 merchants in nearly 3,000 cities across the US and Mexico.

In 2018 Pei Wei conducted what it called a ‘360-degree brand review.’ The company examined different aspects of its business such as the brand’s online footprint, store layout and friction points in servicing takeout orders. At the time, the average Pei Wei ticket time was about 7 minutes. That average included wide fluctuations in prep times: during rushes, orders could take as long as 12 minutes. As 45 percent of customers order meals to-go at Pei Wei, focusing on creating eateries that are optimized for both take out and dine in is important. Central to company strategy is using technology to moderate friction for servicing off premise orders.
As a result of the company review, in 2018 Pei Wei launched a new multi-media advertising campaign, revamping its online and loyalty programs and debuted Wei Better Orange Chicken, aimed at introducing fans of Panda Express’s orange chicken to Pei Wei’s version.
