January 16, 2013 – At the annual FroyoWorld franchise conference in New Haven, the husband/wife team owners Wanting and Yong of FroyoWorld in Cheshire and North Haven presented the results of their “Angel” fundraiser campaign to raise money for the vicitims of the Newtown school shootings. In the massacre, 20 children and six adults were shot at the Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.
From December 16, 2012 to December 22, 2012, 10 percent of the stores were donated to the Sandy Hook Support Fund. On Sunday, December 23, 2012, for every frozen yogurt purchase, $1.00 was also donated to the cause. The owners announced the results of the fundraiser with over $2,000 ($2,185.78) going to the support fund. As part of the fundraiser, customer and staff were given hand cut angels to put up in the store to remember the victims.
On their Facebook page, the company showed its gratitude by posting, “Thank you for visiting our stores to help support an amazing cause to raise money for the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary. Froyoworld Fans! You Rock!”
