Big Apple Pizza Owner Hugs President Obama in Fort Pierce Florida

Fort Pierce, Florida – September 10, 2012 – On Sunday, President Obama walked into Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Italian Restaurant in Fort Pierce, Florida and jokingly asked owner Scott Van Duzer,  “Where’s Scott? If I eat your pizza, can I get some muscles like that?” According to Duzer, the president’s secret service called him and gave him 18 minutes to get there after the secured the place before Obama walked in. After walking in and shaking hands, Duzer gave the president a bear hug and lifted him off the ground.

Van Duzer is a registered Republican who voted for Obama last year and intends to vote Democrat again. As soon as word of the innocent incident began, the review website Yelp was flooded with negative ratings taking the company down to one star mainly from alleged Republicans. However, by later afternoon the Big Apple had reasserted its five star status as supporters came in with a vengeance.
Before the bear hug incident, the restaurant had only two comments on Yelp, but that quickly rose to over 200 (update: 400 as of 9/12/2012). Interestingly, many of the negative ranking came from far places making them unlikely customers who would have actually visited the store or tasted the food.
