Australia Under New Management & Open for Business?

Tony Abbott, who just defeated prime minister Kevin Rubb, declared in this victory speech, “From today I declare Australia is under new management and Australia is now open for business.” A statement typically reserved for under performing businesses who are taken over, Abbott continued to state that he looks forward to “forming a competent and trustworthy government.” An expected economic slow-down and keeping the carbon tax were main election issues. It seems that voters rejected Rubb’s message of  “I know we’re not doing as well as we used to be but it could have been much worse.”CALL (02) 8073-0529 Australia-Frozen-Yogurt-POS-Point-of-Sale-1
Side note: Did you know that all citizens over the age of 18 are mandated by law to vote in Australian elections. Australia is one of 23 countries which mandate voting laws.
The question for many voters is how will the newly elected government implement Abbott’s statement earlier of the coalition would “end the waste, stop the boats, and build roads of the 21st Century” and improve an economy amid China’s slowing demand for its mining and resources seen in falling commodity prices.
While many have been worried about the impending economic slow down, the consumer staples sector (restaurants, pizza, ice cream, etc) of the Australian economy has in many ways seen the start of a new market cycle. As an example, the frozen yogurt industry has seen increased demand for its products and according to many it is just the beginning with years of projected growth. Australia including the other four main countries of  Oceania (Papa New Guinea, New Zealand, Fiji, and Solomon Islands) have a population base exceeding 35 million. The combination of the local pollution and millions of tourists each year, make this part of the globe fertile ground for frozen yogurt and pizza businesses.
We wrote about the opening of Tutti Frutti in Melbourne two years ago, but we are still at the very begging stages of frozen yogurt coming to Australia. Exceptional growth is anticipated in the region over the next decade.
